RDAs, RDTAs, and Mechanical Mods

For more advanced vapers, Rebuildable Dripping Atomisers (RDAs), Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomisers (RDTAs), and Mechanical Mods (mech mods) offer full control.

RDA: Not a tank, holds only what’s in the cotton and the small well at the base. You drip e-liquid directly onto the coil before firing, hence “dripper.”

RDTA: Similar to an RDA but built as an actual tank. Instead of factory coils, you build your own to your preferred resistance and wick it with cotton.

Mech Mods: No circuitry involved, just a firing pin connecting the battery directly to the atomiser.

Inhale Styles: MTL vs. DTL

Mouth to Lung (MTL)

Less airflow. You draw vapor into your mouth first, then inhale, closely replicating the feel of smoking a cigarette.

Direct to Lung (DTL)

More airflow. Vapor is drawn straight into the lungs in one inhale, typically used by more experienced vapers.

What’s Actually in E-Liquid?

E-liquid is built on a base of PG (Propylene Glycol) and VG (Vegetable Glycerin), combined with natural or artificial flavoring. With PG/VG ratios ranging from a standard 50/50 up to higher-VG blends, there’s an all-day-vape combination for almost everyone.

PG (Propylene Glycol)

A thin, non-toxic flavor carrier also used in food coloring. PG delivers the throat hit sensation.

VG (Vegetable Glycerin)

A thicker, sweet, non-toxic base that drives vapor production. More VG means a smoother vape.

What Is Sub-Ohming?

Sub-ohming means vaping on a coil with resistance below 1.0 ohm, producing significantly more vapor and flavor than coils above 1 ohm. Sub-ohm vapers typically take direct lung hits, inhaling straight into the lungs with each pull. Sub-ohm vapers also tend to favor e-liquids with a higher VG percentage, since VG produces the larger, denser clouds this style is known for.

How often should I replace my coil?

Most coils last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks depending on use. A burnt taste is the clearest sign it’s time for a new one.

What’s the difference between MTL and DTL vaping?

MTL draws vapor into your mouth before inhaling, similar to smoking a cigarette. DTL pulls vapor straight into the lungs in one motion and is typically used by more experienced vapers with sub-ohm setups.

Should I choose a higher PG or higher VG e-liquid?

Is sub-ohm vaping suitable for beginners?
